a remnant, an alien, a wave (2023)
Featuring stories, dances, objects, sounds, texts, video, audience participation, and hacked strategies for personal and collective transformation, a remnant, an alien, a wave is an assemblage of presences and absences, a prayer for otherwise in a fake religion performed/officiated by Hana van der Kolk.
Withnessing (2022)
Withnessing is a video poem/letter to Erin Sickler in response to the video that she made as part of our ongoing friendship/withnessing practice and our virtual "In Motion" residency with the Interior Beauty Salon. it is a collage that comes together from my video/audio/text/affect archives connected to my wider, ongoing, meandering friendship/withnessing practices. Contributors of materials include Erin Sickler, Jonah Moberg, Julia Handschuh, Van Tran Nguyen, the Panorama Jazz Band, and radial diamond kinetics participants. the song at the end is by me and Jonah Moberg.
grief points (2020) is an experimental documentary about sensing, intimacy, submission/surrender, and care. The 17-minute video aims to invite reflection on how bodies (both human and more-than-human) might touch, infiltrate, and even transmute one another, destabilizing each other’s very boundaries and identities towards more mutually attentive and generative realities. Somewhere (2015) is an 18-minute experimental documentary created in collaboration with Asher Woodworth and Layard Thompson after more than three months of Hana and Layard engaging in near-daily movement practice together in the woods near their then-shared home outside Liberty, Tennessee. The film has been screened at N/A Gallery (Oakland, CA) and HOME LA (Los Angeles, CA).
nothingnessXXX (2016)
nothingness is a practice and collaborative field of research by Tomislav Feller and Hana van der Kolk. This dance-adjacent work focuses on the eroticism of waiting, the possibility in “stillness,” and the inherent paradox of fullness/emptiness in the void/nothing. In 2018 this research resulted in nothingnessXXX, an hour-long live performance with sound by Steve Martin Snider and advisement from Nikola Knezevic. It was presented at Jacuzzi, Amsterdam (NL) and Zagreb Dance Center, Zagreb (Croatia).
