FlagS Day 2019, a collaboration with Angela Beallor and many participants, marked the first annual reimagining of the historic Flag Day, which commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States. Troy, NY held the largest annual Flag Day in the country until 2018. In a time of heightened xenophobia and racism and calls for stronger borders, we called on our town to parade in celebration of multiplicity, openness, community, sanctuary. A group of about 50 participants of all ages marched through the streets of Troy, NY on the evening of June 14th to celebrate the multiple, the in-between, queerness, migration, anti-racism, and border crossing.
