Every Nap is a Garden is a one-on-one facilitated napping project that takes place in homes, public venues, and outdoor urban and rural settings. In a group session of the project, partnerships take turns acting as nap facilitators for one another. In a one-on-one encounter with me I act as nap facilitator, guiding individuals through 30-75 minute sessions of rest preparation, resting, and rest reflection. Drawing inspiration from various historical and contemporary ritualized resting, sleeping, and dream work, Every Nap is a Garden opens participants to the visionary potential of rest and sleep. Three simple photographs are taken by the napper and nap facilitator before, during and after each nap session as a mean of serial, non-representational documenting of the project.
